For higher education

Procurement in higher ed is everywhere and nowhere. Coverbase brings vendor risk under one roof.

Departments buy their own tools, research handles sensitive data, and GLBA and FERPA still apply to all of it. Coverbase gives a central team visibility into vendor risk across a decentralized campus.

05 · Questions

FERPA, GLBA, and department ownership

Which records a provider receives changes the review.

Does FERPA apply to every campus vendor?

No. Your institution decides whether a provider receives education records and which FERPA permission or exception applies. We record the data use and your review.

Which financial-aid vendors need GLBA review?

For institutions participating in federal student aid, applicable GLBA Safeguards Rule duties include oversight of service providers handling covered customer information. We keep the provider evidence with your review.

Can individual departments keep their own vendor owners?

Yes. We retain the requesting department's owner while routing the request to central security and procurement reviewers.
